The Window's Ledge

it rains.
she sits
alone on her window's ledge,
her soul bled away.
the cars and the s.u.v. s
on the street below
pass with a fleeting sound
of newly paved tar
pierced through by
hurried and reckless rain
and rubber.
artificial music
hums through the air
barely heard.
her desire to desire
overwhelms her senses,
floods her veins
with adrenaline.
she craves to covet;
if only she could.
she's tired
of being mercury.
she's tired.
her soul's bled away
in the brisk pacing.
she needs to get away
walk away, run away
fly away
off the window's ledge.
she sits,
tired and bled.
it rains.
