Raven

The raven, dark as night
Inky black and carnal heart
You gaze at me with piercing eyes
Yellow gaze meets hazel in a clash
And orange as the product
You seem to know me,
You with your gaze so steely
So unflappable, so calm.
Yet how can you know me, I ask myself
I do not know how such things can be.
But the gaze is lifted, and I am left,
Your mighty wingspan unfurls
And you caw one last warning at me
And completing this task, you fly away
Fly into the deep dead night.
