On the Inside

You sit in the dark
the blinds drawn around you
so you can't see the world
outside.
And the clock chimes
A little past the 13th hour
The minutes tick by
As you wait.

You stare and you stare
at the metallic glare
bouncing off the walls
You wonder if it's worth your time
to actually make the cut
As the clock chimes a fourteenth time.

And you feel you've died
on the inside
And you feel you're burned
on the inside
And inside you know
you've rotted away.

The minutes continue to tick
Tock another one's gone.
Your bath water's waiting
Shadows flit in the corner
and the moonlight's reflected
in the kitchen knife's sharp glow.

And you feel you've died
on the inside
And you feel you're burned
on the inside
And inside you know
you've rotted away.

Yeah, you're dead
on the inside
And yeah, you're burned
on the inside
And inside you're sure
you've rotted away
on the inside

Spare everybody the pain
And just do it
Nobody cares anymore
so just do it
Slice through translucent skin
and show on the outside
what's always been
on the inside.

Tick tock
The thirteenth hour.
